BANGS – The Bangs Dragons will not advance to the postseason for a third consecutive season as they were ousted from the playoff race with Friday night’s 46-3 loss to the District 2-3A Division I rival Ballinger Bearcats at Memorial Stadium.

Bangs (1-7, 1-3) finished with just 187 yards of total offense – 173 rushing and 14 passing – and committed three turnovers in its home finale, upping the season total to 19 giveaways in eight games.

Defensively, the Dragons surrendered 450 yards of total offense to Ballinger (5-3, 2-2) and did not force a turnover.

Skylar Minshew led Bangs with 70 yards rushing, but fumbled once, followed by Guy Powell with 56 yards and Ian Cortez with 47. Through the air, Minshew connected on 3 of 9 passes for 14 yards with two interceptions. Nate Stoffer caught two passes for 9 yards and Ethan Ethridge made a 5-yard catch.

The lone points for the Dragons were the result of a 22-yard Braxton Melling field goal.

Next week, the Dragons conclude their season on the road against Brady (5-3, 3-1) – which knocked off Ingram Moore (2-7, 0-4) by a 49-6 count Friday night.
