BLANKET – The Blanket Tigers stretched their win streak to four games and started District 15-A Division II action ideally with a 58-0 home triumph over the Rising Star Wildcats Thursday night.

The Blanket (6-1, 1-0) offense was again sparked by Brayden Day, who rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns – 2, 71 and 74 yards – on just four carries, while completing a 42-yard scoring strike to Mark Yeats. Carlos Morales tacked on 68 yards rushing and scored on a 20-yard carry, while Brandon Larance ran for a 24-yard score.

Through the air, Brennan Varner connected on all three pass attempts for 75 yards with three scoring tosses. Ayden Wheeler led the Tigers with two receptions for 26 yards, both of which resulted in touchdowns.

Defensively, Blanket surrendered just 73 yards to Rising Star (2-4, 0-1) as Day led the charge with a dozen tackles and a pair of interceptions. Levi Vazquez chipped in six tackles and returned a fumble for a touchdown, while Morales contributed four takedowns and a pick. Larance and Wheeler also finished with four tackles apiece.

The Tigers’ bye falls next week as Blanket is slated to return to action Oct. 22 at Sidney (1-4, 0-0), which hosts Panther Creek (2-3, 0-0) Friday night.
