BHS cross country teams continue to gear up for district at Dublin, Stephenville

The Brownwood Lady Lions placed fourth at Wednesday’s Thrill of the Hill cross country meet in Stephenville, netting 128 points. The Lions also took part in the meet, but did not have enough runners to qualify as a team.

Kate Tindol led the way for the Lady Lions with a 14th-place time of 13:16.27 trailed by Braycee Lee (25th, 13:32.42), Sidney Windham (26th, 13:33.88), Talia Craff (29th, 13:36.42), Emma Stegemoller (42nd, 13:53.11), Miranda Northcutt (62nd, 14:27.01), and Alma Bernal (75th, 1:35.68).

Glen Rose won the varsity girls portion of the meet with 81 points followed by De Leon with 126, Godley with 127, Brownwood with 128 and Stephenville with 176.

Caleb Nelson was the top finishing Lion with an 11th-place effort of 17:56.51 followed by Vincent Floyd (50th, 19:46.15), Evan Fraze (20:08.80), and Hunter Glass (115th, 22:18.17).

The Lady Lions and Lions also took part in the Dublin Dash on Sept. 26, where the Brownwood girls won the team title with 28 points.

Windham finished first overall in a time of 13:38.54 followed by Tindol (3rd, 13:48.76), Craff (9th, 14:25.46), Stegemoller (12th, 14:27.07), Northcutt (16th, 14:30.42), Lee (28th, 15:12.11), and Kylea Karnes (40th, 15:49.51).

The nearest competitor to the Lady Lions was runner-up Eastland with 79 points.

In varsity boys action at Dublin, the Lions placed eighth as a team with 175 points.

Nelson again led the pack for the Lions with a 7th-place time of 18:13.76 followed by Fraze (30th, 20:59.86), Floyd (40th, 21:34.79), Glass (60th, 24:12.02), and Carter Fleet (66th, 25:46.3).

Next on the schedule for the Lions and Lady Lions is the District 6-4A meet at Gatesville on Thursday, Oct. 14.
