Lady Lions make quick work of Lampasas for second district victory

The Brownwood Lady Lions chalked up their second straight District 6-4A volleyball victory Friday, and first at Warren Gym, by a 25-15, 25-13, 25-18 count over the Lampasas Lady Badgers.

“The girls came out and played through a different lineup and a changing of players and got the job done,” said Lady Lions third-year head coach Allison Smith.

Olivia Fowler paced the Lady Lions (18-7, 2-1) with 11 kills followed by 10 from Tessa Goodwin, eight from Jaylen Savage, seven from Gracie Boswell, three from Ava Choate, and two from Jordan Northcutt.

Kylie Wooten distributed 17 assists, Goodwin added 10, Ibis Alvarado logged four, and Boswell and Kassidy Wooten were credited with one each.

Fowler served a team-high three aces trailed by Goodwin, Harris and Kassidy Wooten with two each, and Kylie Wooten with one.

Defensively, Kassidy Wooten notched 25 digs followed by Fowler with 15, Boswell with 14, Molly Oliver with six, Goodwin with five, Kylie Wooten with four, Choate with three, Northcutt with two, and Savage and Alvarado with one apiece.

Northcutt finished with a team-best four blocks, Savage added two and Goodwin, Boswell and Alvarado registered one apiece.

The Lady Lions’ first district bye falls Tuesday, then Brownwood is back in action at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Glen Rose to wrap up the first half of league competition.
