Corine L. Gonzales

Corine L. Gonzales, age 78, of Brownwood passed from this life Monday, September 27, 2021, at home surrounded in love by her family.

Funeral Services for Corine will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 30, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church; burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. with Rosary from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Corine was born on July 1, 1943, to Juan and Rafaela (Loredo) Salazar in Brownwood. She married the love of her life, Saturnino “Nino” Gonzales, on February 23, 1962, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brownwood. She worked for Brownwood ISD as the attendance clerk for many years before she retired in 2009. After retiring she got bored, so she went back to work as a substitute teacher for a few more years. Corine was a loyal person; she was also very kind and generous, always helping others any way she could.

Corine is survived by her husband of 59 years, “Nino” Gonzales of Brownwood; her mother, Rafaela Salazar of Ft. Worth; 5 sons, John Gonzales of Montgomery, Ruben Gonzales of Brownwood, Daniel Gonzales of Brownwood, Gilbert Gonzales and Jennifer of Brownwood, and Carlos Gonzales of Brownwood; 9 grandchildren: Kristina Torres and husband Julian, Daniel A. Gonzales and wife Molly, Samantha Jackson and husband Nick, Christopher Gonzales, Lindsey Gonzales, Ruben J. Gonzales, Lilian Gonzales, and Olive Gonzales; 3 great-grandchildren, Braden Torres, Saraiya Jackson, and Luca Grey Gonzales; and 2 sisters, Betty De la Rosa of Ft. Worth, Isabell Deanda of Ft. Worth. She is also survived numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and several friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Juan Salazar; 2 sisters, Rita Gonzales and Oralia Trinidad; and 1 brother, Juan Amado Salazar.
