The American Southwest Conference today announced its weekly football awards and Howard Payne University’s Selah Smith was named Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance versus East Texas Baptist University.
Smith, a junior from Marshall, returned a kickoff 81 yards for a touchdown right after a Yellow Jacket safety, giving HPU a 22-17 lead at the start of the third quarter. Smith also caught three passes for 31 yards and had two returns for 100 total yards in a 49-38 road win.
