The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Tuesday morning:

On Sunday, September 19, 2021, at approximately 5:35 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of Delwood regarding a Prowler.

The original caller was off duty Corporal Noe Acosta who drove by a residence while on his way to work. While traveling in the 4400 block, Cpl. Acosta heard a lot of screaming from a residence and phoned it in for assistance.

Officers Jessica Risdon and Justin Taylor responded while Cpl. Acosta exited his personal vehicle to aid the homeowners. Upon contact, Cpl. Acosta was given a description of a male subject who fled out the back door.

The male homeowner explained that at 5:30 a.m., he opened his front door to step outside and turn off his water sprinklers. The storm door was still closed when he observed the identified suspect, standing in the front yard in the stream of one of the water sprinklers. The homeowner yelled at the suspect to get out of his yard which prompted the suspect to run towards him. The homeowner attempted to slam the front door so that suspect could not enter but eventually the suspect was able to push his way in. The male homeowner yelled for his wife to exit out a side door and he followed her as the suspect ran into the house.

The suspect was acting in a strange manner speaking wildly while squatting up and down holding his hands as if they were claws.

A short time later, Officers Jonathan Vallejo and Ian Baker observed the described suspect walking southbound in the 4600 block of River Oaks Dr. The male suspect was walking in the middle of the road with his hands in the air while refusing to stop or listen to officer’s instructions.

Officers Vallejo and Baker were forced to physically tackle the suspect to gain compliance. The suspect was later identified as 31-year-old Christopher Kyle Reese of Brownwood. Reese appeared to be heavily under the influence of illegal narcotics, suspected Methamphetamines. The degree of influence was so strong that Reese was transported to the Hendrick’s Brownwood Medical Center for treatment. He was ultimately admitted overnight for observation.

On Monday, September 20, 2021, a warrant was obtained for Reese for Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit Another Felony. Reese was located at this residence and arrested for the warrant then transported to the Brown County Jail.
