Carolyn Wilson

Carolyn Wilson, age 81, of Gouldbusk, died Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Seton Medical Center in Round Rock, Texas.

The family will host a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2021, at Valera Baptist Church, 560 Lipscomb Street, in Valera with Dr. Robert Sloan officiating, and Ralph Howell assisting. Interment will follow in the Hill Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

She was born Carolyn Simonton on January 6, 1940, in Fisk, Texas to Thomas Edwin Simonton and Willie Anna Love Simonton. Carolyn grew up in Fisk and attended school at Brown Ranch and Mozelle. After graduation, Carolyn attended Doan’s Business College in Abilene. She married Billy Jack Wilson on January 7, 1961, in Fisk. With this union came three children, Elaine, Deann, and Ed. Carolyn enjoyed playing games, reading, playing 42, and making jewelry. She served 10 years as a teacher’s aide at Panther Creek CISD. Carolyn was a member of the Valera Baptist Church where she loved serving her church family with her gift for cooking and hospitality, especially the youth Wednesday night dinners. She was a loving wife, mother, and adored her two grandsons. Carolyn will be missed by all who knew her.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Tommy Simonton.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Jack Wilson of Gouldbusk; two daughters, Elaine Wilson of Dallas, and Deann Wilson of Round Rock; one son, Ed Wilson and wife Jennifer of Round Rock; two grandsons, Chandler Wilson and Blake Wilson; one brother, Gerald Simonton of Mineral Wells; and one sister, Polly Wells of Burleson.

Memorials are suggested in memory of Carolyn to the Valera Baptist Church, 560 Lipscomb Street, Valera, Texas 76884.
