Draco Miller Jr.

The Texas Junior Chamber State President Charity Adams and The Dallas Junior Chamber announces Draco Miller, creator of LEAD You! in Katy, TX as the 2021 Outstanding Young Texans Award winner. The Texas Junior Chamber Outstanding Young Texan Award recognizes leadership development and career development professionals who have made significant contributions to advocate, educate, and communicate the value of community, philanthropy, and individual development.
Mr. Miller spent the last 20 years constructing his leadership development style and program. A Brownwood, Texas native and Eastern New Mexico University alum, Miller spent the first part of his collegiate career as a student athlete, there he found the passion for leadership development and motivational speaking. As an athlete, he was part of two Lone Star Conference Divisional Championships and was name team captain and All Conference. After graduating Miller became an assistant football coach and instructor in the department of Health and Physical Education for ENMU. When given the chance to speak at football conferences, local civic groups, and organizations, he was hooked! Although coaching was his career path speaking and developing was his calling. Mr. Miller rose through the ENMU ranks to become an administrator for various departments. His charismatic and service-minded leadership afforded him the opportunity to be the youngest Director of Student Life; there he oversaw eight different departments, leading and developing students, staffs, and organizations. In his new role, Millers’ focus shifted from developing athletes, to developing and preparing college students for the “real world”. At the helm of the department, Mr. Miller created a leadership program called LEAD You! (Leadership, Education and Development), that would allow for leadership and professional development for all students, this program started with his department, but quickly evolved to a university wide program. Miller began producing weekly seminars to enhance the development and success of departments, students, and the university. Newly hired chancellor of the ENMU system and President of the Portales branch, Dr. Jeff Elwell created a freshman- mentoring program, called Greyhound Connection, whereas Miller was targeted to get involved. Along with LEAD You! Miller began to commit himself and students to philanthropic work, working with the city, civic groups, and national groups. For his efforts, Mr. Miller was chosen as the National Advisor of the year, by St. Jude Children’s Hospital and The National Campus Activities magazine. ENMU also named him the staff member of the year.
Miller will be considered as a finalist for the 2022 Ten Outstanding Young Americans. The Ten Outstanding Young American winners will be announced at the 2022 National Junior Chamber fall conference.
