On Thursday, the American Southwest Conference announced the 2021 ASC Football Preseason Poll. Howard Payne University was picked to finish sixth after a vote of the league’s head coaches and directors of sports information.
Howard Payne, who finished 2-3 and 2-2 in conference play last season, received 95 votes to finish ahead of McMurry, Austin College, Southwestern, and Sul Ross State.
Senior wide receiver Jake Parker was named to the 2021 players to watch list. Parker was a First-Team All-Conference selection for the 2020-21 season and a Second-Team All-American selection by D3football.com.
Also returning for the Yellow Jackets are First-Team All-Conference and All-Region selection, Kyle Bell (DB), and ASC Freshman of the Year, Landon McKinney (QB).
Howard Payne will open the 2021 season at home versus conference opponent Texas Lutheran. It will be a 1:00 pm kickoff at Gordon Wood Stadium.
