David Lees and Shirley Mary Elizabeth Elligott MacDonald passed to be with their Lord on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 3:03 pm in Coleman County, in a 2 vehicle head on collision 2 miles west of Valera on U S Hwy 67.

A joint service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 pm in the Harper’s Funeral Chapel with Bro Bobby Rogers officiating.  Services will be under the care of Henderson Funeral Home staff.

David was born November 1, 1960 in Providence, Rhode Island to William E and Dorothy Faucett MacDonald.  He graduated from High School and entered the United States Air Force serving his country during the Vietnam War continuing to serve for 24 years until his retirement.  Upon  retirement he worked for Goodfellow Air Force Base as a Building Manager for 27 years. David loved the Dallas Cowboys and shared a passion for gardening with his wife Shirley in their yard.

David and Shirley married August 8, 1981 in Braintree, County of Essex, England and celebrated 40 years of marriage. They would have been celebrating their Ruby Wedding anniversary on Sunday 8th August having a long and happy marriage.

Shirley was born June 8, 1956 in Witham, Essex, England to William and Catherine Elizabeth Carson Elligott.  She attended The Immaculate Conception RC School and then Braintree College for further education.  She was a Roman Catholic and competed in Athletics representing the County of Essex where she excelled in track events.  After leaving college Shirley worked as a legal secretary.  She was very much a homemaker and loved her family keeping in touch over the miles.  Both Shirley and Dave were very proud of their garden in San Angelo, particularly their roses and they also shared a love of going to the casino.

They leave behind a loving family in the US and UK.
