The Pre-College Music and Art program at Howard Payne University is designed to serve Brownwood and the surrounding communities by providing music and art lessons to children and adults. The Pre-College Music and Art Program operates under the auspices of the Howard Payne University School of Music and Fine Arts.

Music lessons are offered in piano, voice, guitar and band instruments. There are fourteen weeks of private music instruction per semester and twelve weeks of art lessons. Each private music lesson is 45 minutes in length. Each art lesson is one hour in length. Teachers in the program include the Howard Payne University music and art faculty, experienced area teachers, and student teachers. Tuition is dependent on the teacher’s experience and credentials.

All students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of events during the course of the year. These include the December Christmas Recital; the Music Festival in March; the theory test in April and in May all students participate in the Spring Recital and Art Walk.

The Pre-College Music and Art Program at Howard Payne University fosters the love of music and art inherent in all students and seeks to develop these abilities in each individual. We welcome the opportunity to work with you and hope your experience with our program will be a fulfilling and rewarding one.
