Gloria De la Rosa Arellano

Gloria De la Rosa Arellano, age 81, of Brownwood went to be with her Savior on Thursday, August 5, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services for Gloria will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at St. Mary’s Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Bhaskar Mendem officiating; burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5 to 7 with Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Gloria was born on March 30, 1940, to Ruperto and Vicenta (Sandoval) De la Rosa in San Antonio. She married Marciano Arellano on October 13, 1955, in Brady. Gloria was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and very involved in the church.

Gloria loved to cook and was always willing to open her home to anyone. She also loved going to Spanish dances, playing Bingo and going to casinos, sewing, and going fishing.

Gloria was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister, who will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Marciano Arellano of Brownwood; 4 daughters, Lydia Cuellar and husband Ronald of San Angelo, Janie Reyes and husband Robert of Sabinal, Norma Modgling and husband Buck of Brownwood, and Rosa Castenada of Abilene; 2 sons, Alex Arellano and wife Celia of Lake Brownwood, Vincente Arellano and girlfriend Michelle Jackson of Brownwood; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Clara Martinez of Brownwood and Elvira Adame of Ft. Worth; and brother, Arnold Sandoval of Lake Brownwood. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ruperto and Vicenta De la Rosa; 1 grandson, Sammy Modgling; 2 sisters, Amelia Sanchez and Ofelia Perez; 2 brothers, Pedro De la Rosa and Manuel Sandoval; and a son-in-law, David Castenada.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Interim Hospice and Senior Care of Brownwood for the support and taking such wonderful care of Gloria.
