Floyd (Whit) Whitson, age 86, of May, Texas, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021, in Brownwood, Texas.

He was born on October 18, 1934, in Hot Springs, North Carolina, to Samuel Levi and Blanche (Edwards) Whitson. On March 21, 2016, he was united in marriage to Vickie Lynn Boden in Brownwood, Texas. Whit retired from the United States Navy, where he was a member of the Navy Construction Battalion, better known as the Seabees, who were responsible for building much of the temporary and permanent infrastructure at U.S. military locations around the world

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Whitson; daughters, Julie Lynn Ashley, Denice Dawn Thomason, Kecia Louise Todd and husband Gene, Janelle Lea Allen and husband Mark, and Kristie Lee Roche and husband Cody; grandchildren: Candace and husband Ryan, Sarah, Tyler and husband Chris, Courtney, Jennifer, Andrew, Kellie and husband Greg, Leonard and wife Jayne, Steven and wife Kristen, Shelby, Makenzie, and Brenden; twenty-two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Owens; brother, Paul Whitson and wife Carla; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Blanche Whitson; son, Matthew Levi Whitson; first wife Gail Louise Gibson; second wife Neta Kathryn Smith; third wife, Donna Lancaster; and brother, Samuel Levi Whitson, Jr.

Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Friday, August 6, 2021, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with Bryan Pain officiating. Burial will be at Whitson Family Cemetery near Gustine, Texas. Condolences may be offered on line at www.comanchefh.com

If desired, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1905.
