Margaret Janes

Margaret Janes, age 94, passed away on July 29, 2021, in Comanche, Texas.

She was born on January 19, 1927, in De Leon, Texas, to John and Allie (Fritts) Hammond. On October 21, 1944, she was united in marriage to Hearshel Janes in Comanche, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 26, 2005.

Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She did everything she could to make the home environment loving and welcoming. She was a member of the Quilting Club and a 4H leader for many years. She served as the secretary/treasurer for the Stag Creek Cemetery Association for 50+ years. Margaret had a heart for farming/ranching and anything agriculture related.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Hardesty of Lamesa, TX: a son, Richard Janes and wife Judy of Spokane, WA; 4 grandchildren: LeighAnn Gilchrest and husband Terry of Lamesa, Shawn Pinkard of Lamesa, Jared Janes and wife, Molly of Norfolk, VA (JAG office), and Justine Janes of New Castle, OK; four great-grandchild, Grace Stacy and husband Coleton, Krystal Keesee and husband Chad, Nick Gilchrest and wife Kymi, and Jacilyn Janes; six great-great grandchildren, Miya Gilchrest, Nick Gilchrest, Cooper Gilchrest, Chloe Gilchrest, Xzavier Keesee, and Kannon Keesee. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Allie (Fritts) Hammond; and sisters, Jane Wilson and Doris Godfrey.

Chapel service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 5, 2021 with Bobby Davis officiating. Comanche Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be offered on line at www.comanchefh.com
