Richard V. Mayfield

Richard V. Mayfield, 72 of Bangs, TX peacefully passed away Saturday July 24, 2021 at his ranch while surrounded by family. A Memorial service will be held Saturday July 31, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Brownwood Funeral Home.

Richard was born to RC and Mary Lou Mayfield on September 21, 1948 in Brownwood, TX.

Richard graduated with the class of 1967 from Brownwood High School and shortly after married his high school sweetheart Peggy Jean Michael Mayfield on November 18, 1967. To this union, three sons were born.

Along with being a Navy Veteran, Richard worked with the Brownwood Fire Department for 20 plus years. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening and spending time with his family.

Richard is preceded in death by both parents; sister Loraine Davis, brother Carl Ray Mayfield, son Richard Leon Mayfield, grandson Michael Scott King, and great grandson Elijah Ray Flores.

Richard was married to his wife for 53 years until his death. He is survived by his wife Peggy Jean Michael Mayfield of Bangs, TX; Sons: Michael Mayfield and wife Alex of Bangs, TX, Philip Mayfield and wife Erica of San Antonio, TX; 2 brothers: Dale Mayfield and CW Mayfield; 1 sister: Yvonne Reeves; 6 grandchildren: Amanda and husband Greg of Bangs, TX, Amber and husband Joseph of Bangs, TX, Matthew and partner Ashton of College Station, TX, Elissa of Corpus Christi, TX, Kayla and husband Mikey of Glen Rose, TX and Briana and partner Cutter of Rising Star, TX and 9 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Bangs Volunteer Fire Department or a charity of your choice.
