Linda Joyce Griffith Dority, 74, of Brownwood, died Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at her residence.  There will be a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2021 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.  Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Elm Street Church of Christ, 216 West Elm Street, Coleman, with Mr. Bob Martin officiating.  Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Linda Joyce Griffith on February 11, 1947 in Coleman to the late Odie Lee and Esterlene “Jackie” Lancaster Griffith.  Linda grew up in Coleman and attended Coleman schools, where she played the French horn in the Coleman Bluecat band and graduated from Coleman High School in 1965.  On February 27, 1965, she married Allen Wesley Dority in Coleman.  He preceded her in death in April 8, 2016.  Linda worked for G.T.E. and was transferred to many office locations throughout Texas and Oklahoma.  She retired in 2002 out of the San Angelo office, where she was a supervisor.

To Linda, being with her family was important.  She was involved in the school activities of her children and grandchildren and was always ready for a family get together.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, fishing and traveling.  She also had a passion for little weenie dogs, and loved them as much as she loved her own grandchildren.  Linda was a member Elm Street Church of Christ.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Odie and Jackie Griffith and her husband, Wesley Dority.

Left to cherish her memory are Linda’s two children, Doyle Dority and wife, Jess, of Brownwood, Denise Dority of Brownwood; six grandchildren, Derek Dority and wife, Kandus, of Brownwood, Dillon Dority of Austin, Megan Hammonds and husband, P.J. of Gouldbusk, Sean Dority of Brownwood, Morgan Virga of Brownwood and Nathan Virga of Brownwood.  Also surviving are six great grandchildren, Bradley, Braiden and Makenzie Dority and Kyler, Ryker and Pyper Hammonds as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and Linda’s little weenie dogs.

Remembrances, condolences and words of comfort may be expressed to the family at www.stevensfuneralhome.com.  Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Dority family.
