Melvin ‘Glynn’ Morgan

Melvin ‘Glynn’ Morgan, 93 of Brownwood, Texas, passed away on July 26, 2021.

Melvin was born in Glasscock County, Texas on November 1, 1927 to Maurice and Arena Morgan. He married Tommie Barker on January 23, 1953. Tommie preceded him in death on May 23, 2002. He married Jane Rhyne on June 24, 2008 and Jane preceded him in death April 18, 2021.

Melvin worked for Gandy’s Dairy in San Angelo for two years. He worked in the oil fields off and on for several years. In 1957 he moved his family to Brownwood and started delivering mail. In 1965 he went to work for the 3M Company. He was the third person hired when the plant first opened. He retired from 3M in 1990 after 25 years with the company.

In the early 1970’s, Melvin purchased a farm in Blanket, Texas, where he spent a lot of his free time enjoying being outdoors.

Melvin is survived by two daughters, Gayle Moore, Janice Newsom and husband Gary. Grandchildren Chase Moore, BrieAnn Newcomer and husband Mitch, Cory Newsom and wife Laura, Matthew Newsom; Great-grandchildren Brooke and Jay Newcomer, Landon, Luke Finn and Pierce Newsom. Two sisters Dorothy Tonne and JoAnn Lamb and husband Allen.

Visitation will be July 30, 2021, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Heritage Funeral Home, Davis-Morris Chapel. Funeral service will be held on July 31, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home, Davis-Morris Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery, Brownwood, Texas.
