Jerald “Jerry” Jones, age 75, of Coleman, died Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at the Coleman County Medical Center.

A graveside funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 US-277 South in Abilene, with Rev. Marvin Hale officiating.  Interment will follow with services entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

He was born Jerald William Jones on August 20, 1945, in Salem, Illinois to William Richard Jones and Nellie Elizabeth Ryan Jones.  “Jerry”, as his family and friends called him, grew up in Abilene and graduated from Cooper High School.  He attended McMurry University and then moved to Seattle, Washington.  While in Seattle, Jerry attended the University of Washington.  He worked for the United States Post Office in Seattle for many years.  Jerry moved to Coleman in 1990 to be closer to family.  He enjoyed watching baseball and loved to play the game even more.  Jerry also loved all kinds of music.  He was a member of the Elmwood Baptist Church in Abilene.  He will be missed.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Jones; and one sister, Nancy Elizabeth Cunningham.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Charlotte Rister of Abilene; his nieces and nephews, Michael, Charlotte, Jackie, Katy, Steven, and Denise; and numerous cousins.

Remembrances and condolences can be expressed to the family at www.stevensfuneralhome.com.  Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Jones family.
