
According to the Comanche Fire Department, Comanche Firefighter Sebastian Lopez has been deployed to California to assist with battling wildland fires. Sebastian is employed with the Texas A & M Forest Service, and has served several years on the Comanche Volunteer Fire Department. Sebastian is being sent to the Juniper Fire in Modac County which has grown to more than 800 acres and is only 5% contained, according to Comanche Volunteer Fire Department.
Since joining TFS, Sebastian has been deployed numerous times to a state warehouse where he assisted with delivering various supplies around the state for the efforts to combat the Coronavirus Pandemic. He has also been deployed several times within the state to not only battle wildland fires, but also for wildland fire mitigation.
There are currently 50 Texas A&M Forest Service personnel, including 5 engine crews and a 20-person handcrew, supporting incidents in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, and Oregon.
