Carol S. Hester Spratt, 81

Carol S. Hester Spratt, 81 of Brownwood, Texas entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on June 30, 2021.

Her viewing will be held at Emanuel Chapel United Methodist Church July 6, 2021, from 6-8 pm.

Her Celebration of life will be held July 7th, 2021, 11 am at Abundant Life Church.  Internment will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery.

Carol was born in Brownwood, Texas on January 25th, 1940, to Walter O. Hester and Amy L. McLemore Hester.

Carol graduated from Brownwood High School in May of 1958.  After High School she attended college in Austin, Texas and later graduated from beauty school.  She then returned to Brownwood.

In 1961 she married John L. Hollingsworth becoming the wife of a military man.  Carol then saw the world from Japan to California, Washington DC, Virginia and Georgia.  To this union two children were born Shawn L. Hollingsworth, 1961 and Charrisse Y. Hollingsowrth, 1963.

In 1973 Carol returned home to Brownwood, Texas with her children.  In 1975 she married O.L. Spratt and gained three wonderful children, Linda D. Spratt, Robert L. Spratt and Sareta R. Spratt Delgado. They remained married until his death in November, 2020.

Carol was a dedicated member of Emanuel Chapel United Methodist Church.  She worked for GTE from 1972 until her retirement in 1993.  In 1994 she began working in the central office of the Brownwood Independent School District as a receptionist.  She retired from the Brownwood ISD in 2011.  She was called back to Central Office BISD in 2012 to sell Brownwood Lions Football Tickets.  Due to sickness, she left BISD in 2013.

Carol was selected as one of the 2008 Girl Scouts Women of Distinction, she served as the president of United Neighbors Involved to Improve, the Good Samaritan Board, the Red Cross Board, the Greenleaf Cemetery Board, R.F. Hardin Board and the Juneteenth celebration coordinator. She has served her community well.

Carol has been reunited in heaven with her Father, Walter O. Hester, Mother, Amy L. Hester McLemore, Sisters, Esther Hester Moore and Betty Hester Shipman, Brothers, Richard Hester and Walter Hester, and the love of her life, her husband.

She leaves to cherish her legacy, her children, Shawn Hollingsworth, Charrisse Hollingsworth, Linda D. Spratt, Robert L. Spratt, Sareta Spratt Delgado, Robert Morrison, 11 grandchildren, Ashley Hollingsworth, Brock Woods, Chad Hollingsworth, Courtney Hollingsworth, Graylon Brown, Mia Berniard, Robert L. Spratt II, Angela King, Michael Spratt, Chase McKinney, April Melendez, 8 great-grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She also leaves to cherish her memory four special friends, Sue Jones, Billie McGee, Esperanza Flores and Marion Mitchell Thomas.
