Jim Turley officiating.  Interment will follow at the Stewardson Cemetery with services under the personal care of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna. The family will receive friends for visitation will be Tuesday from 6:30 till 8:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church.

Gayle was born in Sloan Community on the Ellis Ranch February 14, 1938 to Raymond Clifford and Birda Lee Kates Ellis.  She was raised in San Saba graduating from San Saba High School in 1955.  On November 5, 1955 Gayle married William Burgess Stewardson of Santa Anna where they made their home on the Stewardson Ranch.  They celebrated 64 years of marriage, Burgess preceded her in death in 2019.

A servant of the Lord and all His children, Gayle was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church in Santa Anna her entire married life.  She joined the Delta Omicron Sorority in 1955 and received her 66 year membership and was also a charter member of the Coleman County Cattlewomen which is also national.  Gayle served as the caretaker of the Stewardson Cemetery for 50 plus years.

Her kitchen was always open any time to provide a meal to family or just come by for a sweet and drink.  The grands loved to go to “Gangie’s” because she always had something they loved and if not she would prepare it and they were her little helpers.

It was always known Gayle would be wherever she was needed, on the ranch or just or just being the one that filled the position that needed help.  Her compassion and love for people was unending.  Gayle was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend for whatever was needed.

Survivors include daughter – Kim & husband Ricky McKinnerney of Richland Springs, TX; 2 sons – Judd Stewardson of Santa Anna, TX, Ward & wife Karen Stewardson of Crosby, TX; 2 sisters – Rayma Lee Field of Burnet, TX, Kathy & husband Chad Oliver of San Saba, TX; 7 grandchildren – Clay & Daena Stewardson, Audra & John Hubbard, Tyler Stewardson, Sloan Stewardson, Hillary Plocheck, Paige Stewardson,  and Sydney Stewardson; and 6 great-grandchildren

The Stewardson family would like to give Special thanks to Gayle’s sweet caregivers, Nina Diaz and Debra Swallows.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and 3 brothers-in-law, Frank Allen, John Frank Johnson and Homer ‘Buddy’ Field.
