Ronald Payne

Ronald Thomas Payne, age 87, of Brownwood, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021. Services for Ronald will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.

Ronald was born to Lawson and Ethel Payne on January 24, 1934 in Houston. He attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School and joined the US Marines where he serviced in Korea. He married Sandy Sanford on January 24, 1959 and they were blessed with 3 children. Sandy and Ronald divorced, but they remained close friends throughout their lives. Ronald married Judy Finstad on December 30, 1978 in Smithville and he was blessed with 2 more children. Ronald was a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League. Throughout his life, Ronald loved to read, hunt, travel, go camping, and talk about his past experiences, especially about his time in the military. He was very active all his life, these past years he has been running a farm, taking care of cattle, goats and chickens. He loved spending his time with the animals. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family.

Ronald is survived by his children, Kevin Payne of Bastrop, Shawn Ochoa of Weatherford, Mya Roberson of Granbury, and Shane Nash of Fort Worth; 8 grandchildren, Rachel, Ashley, Talon, Halley, Londyn, Brandi, Derk, and Jacobi. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Lawson and Ethel Payne; brothers, Richard and Lawson; sister, Shirley, and his son, Scott.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Marine Corps League or Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
