Joseanna “Jo” Butler, age 74, passed away on May 24, 2021 in Houston, TX.

Jo was born on September 21, 1946 to Bonnie and Alvin Oertli in Archer City, TX. She is survived by her loving sons Brad (Lisa) of Pearland, and Chad (Kristina) of Wharton, and her grandchildren Victoria (Nick), Juliet, Duke, Lincoln, Aidrey, and Jolie who were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her brother Leroy Oertli of Michigan.

Jo is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Tommy Duke Butler III of Brownwood, TX and her parents Bonnie and Alvin Oertli of Hatfield, AR and brothers Henry and Randy McClain.

Jo attended Archer City High School. After high school she moved to Abilene, TX where she met the love of her life the late Tommy Butler. The Butlers made their home in Brownwood for over 30 years, until a move to Pearland brought them closer to their sons and grandchildren. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Brownwood where she taught Sunday school and a member at New Hope Church in Pearland where she was a regular Thursday volunteer.

Jo’s comforting nature for others made her truly remarkable. She greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. A loving and caring person leaving her joyous mark to all she met; never knowing the meaning of a stranger, only a friend. Those fortunate to spend time with her were sure to feel a positive impact. One of her greatest joys was being with her grandchildren, loving and caring for them.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 27 from 6-8 pm at Heartland Funeral Home, 303 Early Blvd Early, TX 76802. The funeral will be Friday, May 28th at 10 am at the same location followed by the burial at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood where she will be laid to rest next to her husband

Condolences, memories and tributes can be shared with the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net.
