The Brownwood Memorial Day program will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 31 at the Central Texas Veterans Memorial. The Michael Craig Ledsome Memorial Playground will be dedicated. Michael Craig Ledsome graduated from Brownwood high school in 2000 and died in Iraq on November 25, 2006. Former city councilman, theatre director, and retired Brownwood high school teacher Larry Mathis will be the keynote speaker. Additionally, a plaque honoring local veteran LD Cox who was a survivor of one of the worst United States Navy disasters on the USS Indianapolis will be dedicated. Seats are available, but you can bring a lawn chair if you would like.
