Eddie Gene Reeves, 73, of Brownwood, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2021. A visitation with family will be held at Heartland Funeral Home, Friday, March 7, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 8, 2021.

Eddie Gene Reeves was born May 24, 1947 in Odessa, Texas to Robert Lee and Irma Gene Edwards. Eddie attended high school in Comanche where he loved to play football and he continued to love football in his passion and support for the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed fishing and would invite everyone to come over for a fish fry. Eddie joined the US Navy after high school and served in the Vietnam War. He absolutely loved and adored exotic birds. At one time he had about 20 exotics but he shared his knowledge and love with his children and passed along how to care for the animals. His favorite was a cherry headed conure named “Buddy”. He also loved horses and would spend time riding them, brushing them and enjoying all the activities that came with that passion. Eddie liked to dance, you could often find him decked out in his boots and hat having a good time or sitting at the house watching John Wayne movies. Eddie shared his passions in life with his children and loved spending time with them.

Eddie is survived by his sons, Eddie Reeves and wife Sherry of Royce City, Roy Reeves and wife Johanna of Brownwood; daughter, Gina Johnson of Lampasas; brother, Bobby Reeves and wife Ruthie Christine of Brownwood; 7 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Eddie was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Reeves; his parents; brother, Robin Reeves; and sister, Rebecca Guill.

Online condolences, tributes and memorials can be shared with the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net.
