The Howard Payne University athletic department on Friday announced Lady Jacket volleyball player Mya Ross as the 2020-2021 recipient of the Tami Pattillo Memorial Award.

Being named 2nd Team All-American Southwest Conference this season in volleyball, Mya Ross led the Lady Jackets in points scored (208), kills (180), blocks (27), and digs (175). She had a career-high 18 kills versus Jarvis Christian. Ross was named ASC Player of The Week once this season.

A junior Education major from Irving, Texas, Mya is involved with the Student Activities Council, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Co-coordinator on the Student Planning Committee, and a member of the Black Student Association at HPU.

The Tami Pattillo Memorial Award honors the memory and athletic/academic accomplishments of a female athlete who was also a real lady. Tami was exceptional in the classroom and on the basketball court, while battling the diabetes that took her life too soon. She held an abiding love for her Lord, her family, her friends and Howard Payne University. This award is presented to the female athlete who most represents the HPU spirit, as chosen by the athletic department administrative staff.
