Early police make arrest for burglary, aggravated assault

On Friday, April 23 at approximately 7:25 a.m. officers responded to the 400 block of Longhorn Drive regarding a male subject who entered a home and displayed a knife then swung at a person inside the house.

One of the victims who was staying inside the house stated the suspect was her ex-boyfriend and father of her child but have been separated for 6 months or so. The male, Michael Lance Nestell, 35, from Coleman had previously been given a criminal trespass warning for the property.

Nestell came to the house, opened the door, and entered the house without consent and while the female was telling him to get out and leave. Nestell displayed a knife to the female and a male friend in the house. Nestell then swung at the male friend inside the house but missed. The victim was able to push Nestell back and out the door at which time she was able to shut the door and call 911.

Nestell was located hiding behind the house near a small shed. Nestell was taken into custody and 2 knives were retrieved from his pockets. Nestell was placed under arrest for a 2nd degree felony of Burglary of habitation with intent to commit aggravated assault and a 2nd degree felony of Aggravated assault family violence.

On Sunday, April 18 officers responded to the 100 block of Early Blvd. regarding a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, they discovered a female that had been assaulted. The suspect, Hector Daniel Garza was still present on scene. Officers interviewed witnesses and placed Garza under arrest for assault family violence causing bodily injury a class A misdemeanor.
