Jackie Cavanaugh, age 88, of Coleman, died Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Coleman County Medical Center.

The family will host a visitation from 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m.  Monday, April 19, 2021 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street in Coleman.  A private interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

He was born Jackie Carrollton Cavanaugh on October 2, 1932 in Coleman County.  He grew up in Coleman and graduated from Mozelle High School.  Jackie immediately started a life-long journey of hard work.  He started out as a rough neck in the oil fields and then became a truck driver transporting oil for over 40 years.  Jackie worked until he was 75 years old.  He married Nancy Jo Adian on September 2, 1955 at the First Baptist Church in Coleman.  Jackie loved anything that involved work.  He enjoyed working with his hands whether it be on cars, furniture, or machinery.  Jackie loved his family and friends in the Coleman community.  Jackie and Nancy raised their children along with two nephews that came to live with them after their father’s death.  He was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church in Fisk for many years.

Jackie is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Martha Cavanaugh; his wife, Nancy Adian Cavanaugh; one daughter, Kimberly Jan Cavanaugh; one son, Keith Cavanaugh; and one sister, Patsy Lee.

He is survived by three children, Kevin Cavanaugh of Mozelle, Kirk Cavanaugh and wife Lisa of Fisk, and Kayla Cavanaugh Wallace and partner Raymond Moreno; daughter-in-law, Jo Cavanaugh of San Angelo; five grandchildren, Cody Cavanaugh, Crystal Wallace Stanford, Billy Cavanaugh, Chelsea Cavanaugh, and Jennifer Cavanaugh Van Pelt and husband Jayton; eight great-grandchildren, Kimberly Elena Stanford, Tully Michael Stanford, Louden Stanford, Kenzie Stanford, Hagen Cavanaugh, Brayden Cavanaugh, Bryan Van Pelt, and Brynlee Van Pelt; and one brother, Don Cavanaugh and wife Hazel of Odessa.

The family suggests memorials in memory of Jackie to the Harmony Baptist Church, C/O Jack Cockrell, 615 W. Liveoak, Coleman, Texas 76834.
