GLEN ROSE – The Brownwood Lions scored the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth inning as they snapped a two-game District 6-4A losing streak with their second win over the Glen Rose Tigers, 4-3, Tuesday night.

The Lions regained the lead in the sixth inning as Taylor Bessent led off the frame with a single. Then, with two outs, Reece Bolton reached on an error that allowed Bessent to score the decisive run.

Trailing 3-1 after two innings, the Lions pulled even at 3 in the top of the third as Case Markham led off with a double and scored on Owen Huntsinger’s one-out RBI single. Later in the inning, Gavin Brandstetter delivered an RBI double that plated Kris Hobbs, who drew a walk.

Brownwood struck for its first run in the top of the first inning as Hobbs launched a two-out solo home run over the center field fence.

The Lions finished with six hits as a team – two by Huntsinger and one each by Hobbs, Brandstetter, Bessent and Markham.

On the mound, Atticus Porter hurled a complete-game four-hitter, allowing two earned runs with six strikeouts, one walk and nine runners left on base.

Brownwood (7-7, 3-2) is back in action at 7 p.m. Thursday as Glen Rose (3-14-1, 0-5) comes to town for the final regular season meeting between the two league rivals.
