The recent troubles for the Brownwood Lady Lions continued on the softball diamond Friday night as the Lampasas Lady Badgers chalked up a 15-4 victory.

With the loss, the ninth in the last 10 games, Brownwood slipped to 0-2 in District 6-4A action and 4-11-1 for the season.

The Lady Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Lampasas (11-8, 2-0) fired back with seven runs in the top of the second.

Brownwood added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to close within 7-4, but the Lady Badgers tacked on their eighth run in the fourth inning and followed with a second seven-spot in the top of the sixth to enforce the 10-run mercy rule.

The Lady Lions finished with six hits – two each by Mia Lopez and Cecilia Rodriguez, one from Chelsey Covey, who drove in two runs, and one from Hailey Snell.

Lampasas was sparked by Mia Moldonado who was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and six RBIs.

The Lady Lions have surrendered 30 runs in two district games, 50 runs in their last three games combined, and 121 runs in 10 games during the month of March.

Brownwood will attempt to halt its slide at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gatesville.
