Hotel occupancy tax agreement with chamber on city council agenda

The Brownwood City Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday, March 23, at 8:30 am, at City Hall, 501 Center Avenue.

The first item on the agenda is an Executive Session for consultation with attorney for the following purposes:
A. Discuss Meet and Confer negotiations
B. Discuss legal issues regarding a proposed Hotel Occupancy Tax Agreement with the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce.
C. Discuss structures in Riverside Park that are not City property.

After Executive Session, no action is expected to be taken on item A. The Council may take action on the item dealing with the proposed Hotel Occupancy Tax Agreement with the Chamber.

Other items before the Council Tuesday:

8. Citizen Presentations
Any citizen who desires to address the City Council on a matter not included on the agenda may do so at this time. The City Council may not deliberate on items presented under this agenda item. To comply with the provisions of the Open Meetings Act, the Council respectfully requests that prior to addressing Council that each person submit a citizen presentation form that is located at the entryway to the Council Chambers, stating your name, address, and topic of presentation. All presentations are subject to a five (5) minute time limit.

11. Agreements and Contracts
A. Consider authorizing the Mayor to sign a Hotel Occupancy Tax Service Agreement with the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce.
B. Consider a tower lease agreement with Tackett-Boazman Broadcasting, LP.
C. Consider authorizing the City Manager to sign an Election Contract with the Brown County Elections Administration and authorize a budget amendment for the cost of the election.
D. Consider authorizing the City Manager to sign an Inter-local Agreement between the Brownwood Independent School District and the City of Brownwood.

12. Public Hearing
A. Council may conduct a public hearing and consider an ordinance on first reading changing the name of Houston Street to Hoosegow Drive, located north of Market Place Boulevard and east of Main Boulevard.

13. Ordinances and Resolutions
A. Consider an ordinance on first reading adding a 4-way stop at the intersections of Roselawn Street and First Street as well as Parkway Drive and First Street.

14. Requests and Presentations
A. Consider approval of the Hotel Occupancy Tax budget for April I – September 30, 2021.
B. Consider approval to renovate the existing horseshoe pit area into a small dog park located at Coggin Park.
C. Consider accepting the donation of playground equipment from the Central Texas Veteran’s Committee to be located in Memorial Park.
