Preston L. Blanton, 84, of Brownwood passed away on March 17, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones.

Family visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, March 19th, 2021 at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Services will be held Saturday, the 20th, at 10am, also at Heartland. There will be no graveside services.

Preston was born on October 14, 1936 to Roxie and Leah Blanton. As a young man, he joined the Navy and served in the Philippines for 4 years. After returning home, he married Barbara Elliott on November 29, 1958 and they had three children (Malcolm, Darla, and Forrest). They made their home in Brownwood.

Throughout his life, Preston worked in various fields including roofing, remodeling, carpentry, and as a fireman. He served in the Army National Guard for 8 years and worked at 3M company for 30 yrs. He retired in 1997. Even after retirement, he stayed busy working and enjoying life. He will always be known for his unique humor and his genuine love for the Lord and his family.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Blanton of Brownwood; his son, Malcolm Blanton of Mesquite; his daughter, Darla Blanton Medley and husband Joe of Brownwood; his son, Forrest Blanton and wife Melisa of Early. Preston had 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings and many other beloved family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering through Calvary Baptist in Brownwood.

Special thanks to Holiday Hill Nursing Home in Coleman for going above and beyond to make this difficult time as painless as possible and for taking care of our dear husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Condolences, memories and tributes can be offered to the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net.
