CORPUS CHRISTI – Bangs’ Angela Amos placed third in the Class 3A 259-pound weight class at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association state meet Thursday.

Amos lifted a total of 1,010 pounds – 415 in the squat, 240 in the bench and 355 in the deadlift – to bring home a bronze medal. Amos trailed only state champion Amber Burrow on Mount Vernon (1,035 pounds) and runner-up Jaycie Doyle of Leonard (1,030 punds).

Fellow Bangs Lady Dragon Shumara Finley also qualified for state in the 220s.

Brownwood’s Jaslin Jones will compete Friday in the 165s in the Class 4A Large School draw.
