Early softball, baseball defeat Millsap; Bangs teams fall to Comanche

EARLY – The Early Lady Horns softball team improved to 2-1 in District 8-3A action and 11-4-1 on the season with a 15-0 home victory over Millsap Tuesday.

Early scored nine runs in the first inning, five in the second and one in the third.

Jordyn McIntire and Aubrey Greaves led the Lady Horns with two hits and four RBIs apiece, while Taylor Summers recorded a pair of hits and three RBIs in her season debut. Alexa Portillo and Gwen Phillips both finished with two hits and an RBI, and Kyndal Staggs and Gabby Leal recorded one hit and one RBI.

Millsap (6-4, 0-3) mustered just two hits off Early pitcher Grace LaRue, who struck out six and walked two.

LONGHORNS 11, MILLSAP 0

EARLY – The Early Longhorns came one of shy of a no-hitter in their District 8-3A opener Tuesday night, an 11-0 home victory over Millsap.

Rylie Hill tossed a complete-game, five-inning, one-hitter, striking out eight and walking three.

Offensively for the Longhorns, Jeremy Brown tallied two hits and one RBI and Jaxyn Price added one hit and two RBIs. Caydon Laird and Frankie Villarreal also recorded one hit and one RBI apiece. The Longhorns also drew eight walks as a team. 

Early is now 9-5 overall and 1-0 in district while Millsap is 3-6-2 and 0-1 in league play.

COMANCHE 5, DRAGONS 3


BANGS – The Bangs Dragons were edged by the Comanche Indians, 5-3, Tuesday night in the District 8-3A baseball opener for both teams.

Bangs (6-6-1, 0-1) led 2-0 after one inning and carried a 3-2 edge into the top of the sixth inning, where Comanche (8-2, 1-0) struck for three runs to snatch the win.

Angel Arias led the Dragons with two hits and two RBIs, while Evan Belez chipped in a hit and an RBI. Ethan Sanchez, Brayton Wedeman, Wyatt Lykins and Ethan Ethridge also contributed hits for Bangs.

On the mound, Wedeman and Arias allowed a combined three earned runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts and four walks.

COMANCHE 8, LADY DRAGONS 1

BANGS – The Bangs Lady Dragons slipped to 0-3 in District 8-3A softball action with an 8-1 home loss to Comanche Tuesday.

Comanche, meanwhile, improved to 2-1 in league play.
