June Farris

June Farris, age 90, of Coleman, died Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home.  The family will host a visitation on Saturday, March 13, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman.    Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 14 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Martin officiating.  Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

On June 6, 1930, Betty June Pennington was born in Shields, Coleman County, Texas, to Elvin and Jessie Smith Pennington.  She grew up in Santa Anna and the Buffalo Community where she also attended school.  In 1947 she married A. J. “Jake” Farris in San Angelo and he preceded her in death in 1980.  June worked as a cashier for M System Food Store and Shoppin’ Baskit.  Following the death of her husband, June became an in-home child care provider for several families.  June loved her family and she will be deeply missed by them.  She was a member of Elm Street Church of Christ. 

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Bedell and husband Tommy of Navasota, Sandra Jameson and husband Danny of Coleman; one son, Dennis Farris of Coleman; five grandchildren, Michelle Jameson, Kim Allen, Chris Bedell, Scott Jameson and Yvette Bedell; six great-grandchildren, Landon Brown, Boone Allen, Alissa Allen, Dylon Davis, Avery Jameson, Ainsley Jameson; one brother, Carl Pennington of Brownwood; sister-in-law, Sandra Pennington of Brownwood; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake; grandson, Shane Bedell  and brothers and sisters, Buddy Pennington, Beatrice Pea, Louis Pennington, Bill Pennington, Nelda Fae Rigger,Doris Marie
Gotcher, and Jerry Pennington.
