Bernice Evlyn Patterson

Bernice Evlyn Patterson, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, in Comanche County, Texas.

She was born on March 16, 1939, in Comanche, Texas, to Barnabas “Barney” Bedford and (Anice Myrtle (Roberts) Garner. On June 18, 1955, she was united in marriage to Frankie Ray “Pee Wee” Patterson in Comanche. Bernice was devoted to her family, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was kind and caring and worked hard all of her life. As well as tending to her family and running her household, she worked on the family farm for over forty years, taking care of livestock, mending fences, plowing, hauling and feeding hay, and raising peanuts. Bernice was a member of Liberty Freewill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Frankie Ray “Pee Wee” Patterson; sons, Tommy Ray Patterson and wife Sherri, Dale Glen Patterson and wife Aletha, and Damon Patterson; daughter, Gail Donald; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Ray Barnes and wife Constance; sister-in-law, Lorene Patterson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Patterson; parents, Barney and Anice Garner; and three brothers, James “Jimmy” Bedford Garner, Jerrold “Jerry” Garner, and Daniel “Danny” Barnes.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Oakwood Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Gerald Burns officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Condolences may be offered on line at www.comanchefh.com.
