Rising Star Wildcat Ethan Foster signed on Thursday to play football for McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas.  Foster received both an athletic scholarship and an academic scholarship, which will cover most of the cost of attending college.  He plans to major in Physical Education and History, with the goal of being a teacher and coach.

When asked to describe his feelings upon signing with McPherson, Foster replied “I’m astonished, I am happy, I am thankful and grateful for it.  I would like to thank my Dad and my brother, because they pushed me more than anyone ever has.  And Coach Miller showed up and he knew instantly, we had a great bond, and he kept pushing me.  And Mike Watkins has been helping me in the weight room every day, making sure I get my work done.”

Head Coach Clint Miller had a lot to do with the scholarship.  He knew Foster was an exceptional athlete and student, and sent out film to many colleges.  “Ethan is an exceptional young man.  He takes care of business in the class room.  He’s been the glue that has held things together here.  When I first got here and started our summer workouts, he was here every day, and got all the other kids to be here.  He comes in here in the morning before school.  He’s lifting weights, he goes through his football workout, or basketball, or track, whatever it may be, and then he’s liable to be back in the weight room again afterwards.  Just a very big testament as to what can happen, no matter what size of school you are in.  If you put the work effort in and are willing to get after it, they will find you.”

First year Rising Star High School Principal Albert Abshire commented:  “Ethan is a leader on the field, in the classroom, and in the hallways.  I am just proud to be here for his Senior year.”
