Reyes Carrillo Jr., age 91, of Brookesmith went to be with Jesus on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at a local nursing facility.

Graveside Services for Reyes will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2021, at the Regency Cemetery in Mills County. Arrangements are under the Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Reyes Carrillo Jr. was born on July 26, 1929, to Reyes Carrillo Sr. and Maria Jesus R. Carrillo in Shafter, Texas.

He was a rancher most of his life, mostly raising cattle; he was a true cowboy. Reyes possessed great knowledge of home remedies using plants. He had a love for all animals, but was especially close to his dog, Grasshopper, always talking to him like a person.

Reyes was a great man, who loved and respected everyone who knew him. He had a heart of gold, and always had a positive outlook in life. Reyes was someone you could always turn to, whether you needed advice or just needed a hand.

Reyes is survived by son, Mario Carrillo and wife Patsy of Eagle Pass; step-children, Edwin Wishert of Brookesmith, Art Wishert and wife Sandra of Terrell, Shawn Wishert of Brownwood, and Whitney Cotton of Killeen; grandchildren: Jason Carrillo of Eagle Pass, Samantha and Gianluca Gallo of Austin, Theresa Mae Carrillo of Riverside, California, Courtney Wishert of Bangs, Corey and Stephanie Wishert of Bangs, Jennifer and Mike Kline of Hawaii, Joseph Sherrill of Killeen, and Tony, Lil Ray, Shanda, and Juanita Wishert all of Terrell; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Maria Elena Lorea of Odessa; and sister-in-law, Mary Cantrell of Brownwood. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Teresa Carrillo of Shafter; second wife, Shirley (Alldredge) Carrillo of Brownwood; grandson, Ray Manuel Carrillo; sister, Consuelo Gonzalez; and brother, Jesus Carrillo.

Reyes will be loved and greatly missed by all who knew him…..

Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
