The Brownwood Lions ran their win streak to four games, rallying from a double-digit deficit for a 63-56 home triumph over the Class 5A Granbury Pirates Tuesday night at Warren Gym.

“We started every quarter very slow and got behind by 15 points,” said Lions fifth-year head coach Nadir Dalleh. “We made it a nine-point game before halftime and in the second half we extended our defense and slowed their three-point shooting down. The kids earned about a 12-point lead but Granbury shot their way back into it. I’m proud of our kids for knocking down free throws late and earning the win.”

Trailing 19-15 after one quarter and 33-24 at halftime, Brownwood limited Granbury to six points in the third period to carry a 40-39 advantage into the fourth period.

Bryson Monroe and Zach Porter led the Lions with 15 points apiece followed by Christian Kinzler with 13, Jakob Hataway with 12, and four points each from Luke Moss and Michael Felts.

The Lions (8-6) wrap up pre-district action at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Sweetwater (9-3).
