Guadalupe Maria Zarate

Guadalupe Maria Zarate, age 70, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020, in Austin, Texas.

She was born on January 23, 1950, in Alice, Texas, to Timoteo and Alexandria (Magallanes) Salinas. On April 27, 1968, she was united in marriage to Elizaio “Lee” Zarate. Lupe was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was very warm, kind, caring, and considerate and always stood for what was right. For most of her adult life she worked as a nurse. She was employed by Cross Timbers Clinic for twenty years, and later worked at Golden Age Nursing Home in Dublin. She retired from Golden Age after ten years of service. She loved nursing and was devoted to all her patients. When she wasn’t involved with family, friends, work and Church, Lupe loved gardening and caring for her pets. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Lee Zarate of Comanche; children, Eliza Zarate of Comanche, Jonathan Zarate of Beaumont, and Sarah Zarate of Stephenville; grandchildren, Reymundo Garcia, Ezra Garcia, Chloe Zarate, Isaac Zarate, and Juliet Zarate; great-granddaughter, Vivianna Garcia; sisters, Carmen Moreno and husband Jose of Allen, Corina Stovall and husband Randy of Sachse, Gloria Salinas and husband Tim Labadie of Austin, Susan Moya and husband Ricky of Comanche, and Terry Salinas of Woodsfield, Ohio; brothers, Tim Salinas and wife Brenda of Comanche, Peter Salinas of Midland, Armando Salinas of Comanche, and Paul Salinas of Stephenville; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Timoteo and Alexandria Salinas; grandson, Elijah Garcia; sister, Lucia Cerda; brother, Domingo Salinas; and sister-in-law, Josephina Salinas.

Rosary will be at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday December 30, 2020, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. Following the Rosary, family will receive friends until 8:00 P.M.

Graveside service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche, with Fr. Matthew Sanka officiating. Condolences may be offered on line at www.comanchefh.com.
