Brown County Sheriff’s Report – Dec. 30

On Monday, Dec. 28, Deputy Toby Mathis responded to HWY 279, Brownwood, TX. This was for a report of criminal mischief. Caller said his window on a vehicle had been shot out. Information was gathered and a report was made.

On Monday, Dec. 28, Deputy Toby Mathis, responded to CR 310. This was for a report of suspicious vehicle in a pasture. The driver was placed in custody for driving while intoxicated, after failing standard field sobriety test. Also 0.1grams of Methamphetamine and 2.3 grams of marijuana was located in the vehicle.

On Monday, Dec. 28, Deputy Andre Smoot made contact with a suspect referencing a Longhorn that appeared unhealthy. Smoot was advised by the suspect that the animal would be put down. On Tuesday, Dec. 29, the animal was still in an unhealthy state and had not been put down as advised would be. A report was completed for Cruelty to Livestock.

On Tuesday, Dec. 29, Deputy Andre Smoot responded to a burglary of a storage shed. Smoot arrived on scene, spoke to complainant, and gathered pertinent information to complete a report.

On Tuesday, Dec. 29 at about 1:12 p.m., Deputy Marvin Simpson met with an individual who advised she was a victim of an assault. The victim stated the suspect had got mad at her for not giving him money for drugs, so he slammed her on the bed and strangled her. The victim stated she had almost passed out once. Deputy Simpson attempted to make contact with the suspect to issue him a criminal trespass warning for an address in Brownwood. A report for Third Degree Felony Assault Family Violence Strangulation was made.

On Tuesday, Dec. 29, Deputy Andre Smoot responded to a found property. While on scene, Smoot observed a purposely cut barbed wire fence. Owner was notified and wishes to pursue charges.
