BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: May girls tally two wins, Bangs girls earn victory

The Class A No. 12 May Lady Tigers notched a pair of non-district victories Monday and Tuesday, knocking off Priddy by a 64-27 count followed by a 43-30 triumph over De Leon.

In the win over De Leon, Reese Chambers tallied a team-high 16 points for May (11-2) trailed by Roberta Robinette with 12, and Korlei King, Melanie Murphree, and Lexi Fox with five points apiece.

Against Priddy, Robinette led the charge with 21 points followed by Chambers with 18, Fox with seven, Hannah McKenzie with five, Charity Baker with four, Murphree with three and King and Anna Woods with two points apiece.

The Lady Tigers (11-2) kick off District 13-A action Tuesday, Jan. 5 at home against Moran.

Bangs Lady Dragons 28, Winters 19

WINTERS – The Bangs Lady Dragons collected a non-district victory over the Winters Lady Blizzards Tuesday, emerging with a 28-19 win.

Down 8-7 at halftime, Bangs dominated the second half as Maggie Morales recorded a team-best 15 points followed by Jaycee Miller with nine.

Bangs (6-7, 2-1) returns to District 8-3A action at 1:15 p.m. Saturday at Millsap.

Clyde 51, Early Longhorns 43

EARLY – Matched up with the Clyde Bulldogs once more, the Early Longhorns again came up on the short end on the scoreboard, suffering a 51-43 defeat Tuesday.

Early trailed 10-4 after one quarter, 26-13 at halftime and 36-25 through three periods.

Ethan Mitchell finished with 15 points for Early while Roberts led Clyde with 15 points.

The Longhorns (5-5) are slated to venture to Wall Wednesday for a 2:30 p.m. tilt.
