BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Early boys, May girls chalk up victories

EARLY – The Early Longhorns opened District 8-3A boys basketball action with a 59-35 home victory over Millsap Tuesday afternoon.

Early (5-4, 1-0) trailed Millsap (4-6, 0-1) by a 9-6 count after one quarter, took a 27-16 lead at halftime and carried a 43-27 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Vic Cooper paced the Longhorns with 28 points followed by Ethan Mitchell with 18.

Millsap received 13 points from Nathan Sikes and 12 from Cade Herbel.

Millsap 67, Early Lady Horns 29

EARLY – The Early Lady Horns slipped to 0-3 in District 8-3A action and 2-9 on the season with a 67-29 home loss to Millsap Tuesday afternoon.

No further information was available.

Millsap improved to 2-1 in district play and 3-10 overall with the win.

Comanche 38, Bangs Lady Dragons 21

BANGS – The Bangs Lady Dragons suffered their first District 8-3A loss Tuesday, falling to the Comanche Maidens by a 38-21 count.

Bangs (5-7, 2-1) trailed 28-21 in the fourth period, but Comanche put the game away with the final 10 points.

The Lady Dragons were led by Maggie Morales, who scored seven points.

The Bangs-Comanche boys game was postponed and rescheduled for Dec. 31 due to a positive COVID test associated with the Comanche program.
