Hershell Vern Ballard passed from this life on December 1, 2020 at the age of 82.

He was born at home south of Fisk, Texas December 15, 1937 to the late Perry Rosco and Mary Rennie (Lambright) Ballard. He attended school in Coleman County at the Brown Ranch Elementary School and Mozelle Jr. High and High School, graduating in 1956. He and Teddy Zane (Gray) Ballard were married June 29, 1957. He worked as a field service mechanic for the Abilene Caterpillar dealer for 40 years while farming on the side. After his retirement from Caterpillar in 2001, he continued to farm and ranch full time in Coleman County until shortly before his passing. He was always eager to help friends and neighbors with tractor problems. He was a member of the Coleman Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.

One brother and three sisters preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Gouldbusk Cemetery Pavilion. Interment will follow in the Gouldbusk Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
