Bangs, Early represented on 8-3A all-district volleyball team

Five Bangs Lady Dragons and four Early Lady Horns were selected to the 8-3A all-district volleyball team by the league’s coaches.

Landing on the first team were Bangs’ Skylar Hutchins and Early’s Taylor Summers.

Second-team selections included Bangs’ Halle Lance and Early’s Savannah Holt.

Receiving honorable mention from Bangs were Jacee Miller, Cloie Montague and Maggie Morales, along with Early’s Carrigan Norris and Grecia Yebra.

Making the academic all-district team from Bangs were Hutchins, Lance, Miller, Madi Martin, Jordyn Pitts, Avery Biera, Brooklyn Mullins and Kylie Salazar.

For Early, academic all-district honorees were Summers, Holt, Yebra, Jenna Hataway, Madie Waldorf, Grace LaRue, Bethany Tomlinson, Tori Wood-Rush, Gabby Leal, Reagan Kirby and Gwen Phillips.

Superlative award winners on the 8-3A all-district roster included Co-MVPs Keller Warren and Hannah Barry of Peaster, Hitter of the Year Ava Tanner of Brock, Blocker of the Year Rian Brunner of Brock, Setter of the Year Sadie Ballard of Peaster, Server of the Year Marlee Garcia of Brock, Defender of the Year Alexiz Mejia of Millsap, Libero of the Year Ashlyn Fields of Peaster, and Newcomer of the Year Jolee Van Dyke of Millsap.

The rest of the first team consists of Brock’s Hailey Little, Ellason Felts, Lauren Hillegas and Kylie Hoster; Peaster’s Averie Threet, Payton Hull, Presley Whitehead, and Lily Thompson; Millsap’s Kennedy Burkhall, Taylor Cotton, and Stephanie Sargood; and Eastland’s Kynnley Herrginton.

Comprising the remainder of the second team were Brock’s Anniss Moreno, Dublin’s Hannah Ortega and Kylie Olvera; Eastland’s Kayleigh Tibbets; Peaster’s Landry Robertson, Aubrey Black and Kambria Christman; and Millsap’s Loren Morazzano, Baylee Chriestenson, and Allison Keplinger.

Bangs, under the direction of head coach Cheyanne Lovelady, finished fifth in the district race with a 6-8 league mark and 9-12 overall record. Early, under the guidance of head coach Natalie Whitewood, was seventh in district with a 2-12 record and finished 7-16 for the season.
