REMINDER: Veterans Day program at Central Texas Veterans Memorial Wednesday

The Brownwood Veterans Day program will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 at the Central Texas Veterans Memorial. State Senator, Dr. Dawn Buckingham, will be the keynote speaker.

Navy Commander Chaplain Jim Looby will dedicate a plaque honoring Brownwood veteran Norman Chesser who survived the Battan Death March. State Representative, Dr. Glenn Rogers, will dedicate a plaque honoring Major General Earl Rudder who was instrumental in the D Day Invasion on June 6, 1944. He was a former president of Texas A&M University and was a former mayor of Brady.

Masks and social distancing are appreciated. Some chairs are available but you may want to bring a lawn chair to maintain social distancing.

Early Chamber hosting Veterans Appreciation Lunch Tuesday

The Early Chamber of Commerce is hosting a free Veterans Appreciation Lunch from 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Carr Facility across from the Early Fire Department. Prima Pasta will be providing the free meal for veterans. Additional meal tickets are $10. Seating will begin at 10:45 a.m. with the Early cheerleaders ushering veterans to their seats.

Veterans Day program in Bangs Wednesday

The Bangs Middle School Student Council and staff would like to honor you and your guests on Veterans Day. You are cordially invited to attend a Veterans Day program and reception. It will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 in the Bangs High School Auditorium with refreshments to follow. We are looking forward to seeing you at this special recognition program as we honor our veterans who are currently serving or have served our country.

Free car washes for veterans Wednesday

Free vehicle washes will be provided for veterans of all branches of the military from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 2617 Austin Avenue in Brownwood. Valid military proof required.

City of Brownwood to be close Veterans Day

Brownwood City Hall, Landfill, Recycling Center and other non-emergency city departments will be closed to the public on Wednesday, Nov. 11 for Veterans in-service day. Normal operating hours will resume Thursday, Nov. 12. Residential curbside trash routes for the week will not be affected. The commercial routes will resume Thursday.
