Brownwood tennis falls in area round to Vernon

ABILENE – The Brownwood High tennis team’s fall season ended Saturday in the area round of the playoffs with a loss to perennial playoff powerhouse Vernon at Abilene Wylie High School.

Vernon won all the sets that were completed as Brownwood finished the season with an 8-5 overall record.

In doubles action, competing for the Lions were No. 1 Mo Goff and Peter Le (6-2, 6-3 loss to Kell Castleberry and Quillin), No. 2 Julian Lares and Nathan Ramos (6-1, 6-0 loss to Alex Ramirez and Andrick Avitia) and No. 3 Victor Hernandez and River Prado (6-2, 6-3 loss to Max Jones and Dane Kieschnick).

For the Lady Lions, doubles tandems were No. 1 Aaliyah Uvalle and Lillian Jonescue (6-1, 6-0 loss to Smith and Emili Ozhick), No. 2 Aishwarya Nigalye and Victoria Ramos (6-1, 6-0 loss to Ellie Burdette and Kirsey Weatherly) and No. 3 Labritaney Pollard and Tatum DeHart (6-0, 6-0 loss to Caroline Ruhl and Andi Goodman).

Competing in mixed doubles were Dillon Gatlin and Leila Rivera (6-0, 6-0 loss to Varela and Oscar Ramirez).

In singles action for the Lady Lions were No. 1 Uvalle (6-1, 6-3 loss to Weatherly), No. 2 Jonescue (6-0, 6-0 loss to Burdette), No. 4 Nigalye (6-1, 6-0 loss to Ozhick) and No. 5 Pollard (6-3, 6-0 loss to Goodman).

For the Lions, singles competitors included No. 1 Goff (6-3, 6-3 loss to Castleberry), No. 2 Le (6-0, 6-1 loss to Jones) and No. 5 Ramos (6-0, 6-0 loss to Avitia).
