Lions place second, Lady Lions fourth at Moody cross country meet

The Brownwood Lions finished second in Session 3 of the Moody Bearcat Invitational cross country meet Thursday, while the Lady Lions came in fourth as a team.

The Lions finished with 66 points which trailed only Robinson (23). Brownwood finished ahead of Waco University (82), Waco Live Oak Classical (108), Waco Connally (111) and Mildred (143).

The Lady Lions garnered 90 points which left them behind Waco Live Oak Classical (37), Robinson (39), and Mildred (60). Brownwood finished in front of Waco Connally (128).

Caleb Nelson led the Lions with a third-place effort of 18:16.8 followed by Evan Fraze (10th, 19:40.3), Cameron Phipps (11th, 19:44.3), Andrew Boren (20th, 20:22.3), Vincent Floyd (22nd, 20:30.9), Christian Franklin (39th, 21:59.8), Hunter Glass (40th, 22:23.6), Jeremiah Bond (41st, 22:38.8), Elijah King (44th, 23:45.5).

Emma Stegemoller’s sixth-place performance of 13:43.1 was tops for the Lady Lions trailed by Alli Touhakis (17th, 14:48.7), Kinnison Harvey (19th, 14:59.4), Ava Brownlee (25th, 15:39.3), Taylor Pickney (29th, 15:46.7), Jillian Lambert (36th, 16:33.7), CarolAnn Hetzel (37th, 16:46.2), Jazmine Rivas (44th, 18:06.1), and Marisa Campos (45th, 18:41.3

The District 6-4A cross country meet for both the Lions and Lady Lions is slated to take place Wednesday, Oct. 28 in Lampasas.
