Brownwood cross country teams compete at Lampasas

LAMPASAS – The Brownwood Lions finished second in their seven-team draw of the Lampasas Invitational cross country meet Friday, while the Lady Lions were third amongst the seven teams theychallenged.

The Lions finished with 64 points, which trailed only Riesel (42) and was better than Canyon Lake (65 points), Glen Rose (90), Davenport (103), Moody (138) and Florence (176).

Caleb Nelson finished second in a time of 17:32.7 to spark the Lions’ effort followed by Cameron Phipps (8th, 18:50.5), Vincent Floyd (18th, 19:45.9), Andrew Boren (19th, 19:49.3), Aden Solis (28th, 20:43.2), Eli Menchaca (32nd, 21:15.5), Hunter Glass (35th, 21:45), and Jeremiah Bond (39th, 22:27)

The other seven-team boys draw featured McGregor (57), Salado (65), Gatesville (73), Stephenville (94), Boerne (100), San Antonio Cornerstone Christian Academy (103) and Lampasas (190).

In the Lady Lions’ seven-team draw, Brownwood tallied 78 points which trailed Austin St. Michaels (41 points) and Glen Rose (72), while placing ahead of Davenport (78), Canyon Lake (119), Moody (127) and Riesel (180).

Emma Stegemoller came in sixth with a time of 13:51.6 while Naysa Leach was seventh, clocked at 14:09.1, to pace the Lady Lions’ effort. Also running were Kinnison Harvey (22nd, 15:06), Alli Touhakis (15:19.3), Molly Oliver (26th, 15:23.7), Ava Brownlee (31st, 15:55.9), Taylor Pickney (32nd, 15:57.8), and Brileigh Price (33rd, 15:59.4)

The other girls draw, which featured six teams, included McGregor (47), Gatesville (59), Stephenville (68), Salado (75), Lampasas (106) and Boerne (139).

The Lions and Lady Lions will be back in action at Stephenville Wednesday.
